Bring Back The Scripps Ranch Ambulance

Dear Scripps Ranch Friends and Neighbors,

My husband Lou has taken on a personal mission to re-instate the ambulance that resided in Scripps Ranch for many years. I am helping him by sending you some information on this issue. Please forward this e-mail to as many Scripps Ranch residents as you can, as we want the community to be informed of our current and unacceptable situation.

Many of you may not realize that Scripps Ranch no longer has its own ambulance. The ambulance that presided at Scripps Ranch Fire Station #37 for many years was taken away from us and moved to Mira Mesa over two years ago, as they felt they needed a second ambulance in that area. We do have paramedics at our fire station that will respond to medical emergencies, but we have no way of transporting these people to a hospital. We are now dependant on the ambulances in Mira Mesa, Poway or Carmel Mountain to transport our medical emergenices to area hospitals. You know what the traffic can be like, and we have heard many stories of lengthy wait times for ambulances that have been life threatening ever since our ambulance was taken away over two years ago. Many of us here in Scripps Ranch are not comfortable with this arrangement for obvious reasons. Our community has grown tremendously in recent years, and we feel that our best interests are not being served. We need to do something about it.

Below is the link to a website we've established. It provides a link with an e-mail to Brian Maienschein and Jerry Sanders. All you have to do is cut and paste the petition text. If you could send them the e-mail petitioning the ambulance and pass this along to as many people as you can, it will help our cause greatly.

Please also attend our meeting on May 31, at 7:30PM at the Scripps Ranch Swim and Racquet Club, 9875 Aviary Drive.

One more thing, if you know of anyone that has had to wait a long time for an ambulance or has had a negative experience with our paramedics or ambulance service, please ask them to contact me. We may want to have them speak at the meeting.

Thank you so much for your support. With your help, we can make this a safer community for our families.
